Taran's exposure to photography began at a very early age, while being babysat at her father's best friend's Kodak shop. While other kids she knew spent their afternoons in playgrounds, Taran spent most of hers watching film being developed in dark rooms and being mesmerized by the many shiny cameras that lined the shelves of the store. During high school, she was gifted her first Minolta film camera which followed her on all her adventures thereafter. Her love for capturing great images began with travel photography and as the age of digital imaging dawned upon us, she quickly invested in a Nikon D100. In 2005 she began her journey in wedding photography. Following the birth of her children, she found a profound joy in motherhood and felt immense fulfilment and enjoyment documenting family life. In 2014, Taran decided to carve out her spot in the niche of family photography with a focus on newborn photography. Growing up with an appreciation for abstract and surreal art, it was only a matter of time before Taran delved into the world of composite photography. Today, much of her fine art work, shot on Canon systems, involves digital compositing which can be seen in her newborn photography particularly.
Taran's work has been published in Rangefinder Magazine, West Coast Families, and Peninsula Neighbours South Surrey. She has won awards as a three best rated newborn photographer for 3 years, and awarded the Quality Business Award as best family photographer in Surrey for 2023.
